Mercifully, this year’s ADAA far was absent of familiar pop art fair staples such as Roy Lichtenstein and James Rosenquist. Many dealers brought contemporary art to the fairs, with familiar names such as Dana Schutz, Jacob Kassay, and James Turrell filling the booths. That, along with a series of in-depth solo booths, contributed to an overall sense of higher quality than in years past.

Decked out with high-definition monitors, a spacious interior in Chelsea's Waterfront Tunnel, and plenty of stools and chairs, it's the perfect place to spend some time sitting down while enjoying some art. Video art is often best viewed from a bench.

It’s hard to imagine a busier culture week for New York than this one. AFC’s Whitney Kimball is about to unleash our gallery opening picks for this week alone – oddly enough Lisa Yuskavage at David Zwirner is on our list of shows to see (we, like everybody else, enjoy crotch shots and boobs) — and both the NY Art Book Fair and The New Yorker Festival will run Friday through Sunday. Given the sheer volume of events to go see, I’ve picked out a few anticipated talks from the NY Art Book Fair and The New Yorker Festival. I have a feeling this will be a very fun weekend.
