Artist Liam Gillick wrote a horrible essay that tries to connect R. Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet to topics as varied as military control and iPhones. It reads like a grad student’s first essay, which is too bad because I’m a fan of his writing on relational aesthetics. [Afterall]
Speaking of relational aesthetics, where is Rikrit Tiravanija from? The New York Times says he’s Argentinian, but I’m certain he’s a Thai citizen who was born in Argentina. [The New York Times]
Sotheby’s hopes to make more money than the amount of money they normally make. How? They’re putting one of Andy Warhol’s Double Elvis works on the auction block with an estimate of $30 – 50 million. [New York Daily News]
The MTA came out with an app that lets you track subway art on your smartphone. This sounds great until you realize that it’s useless because most subway stations lack cellphone reception. [ANIMAL]
The Andy Warhol Museum announced its new curator. USA Today thinks it’s a big deal that he’s Australian. [USA Today]
Time to throw a party for Kaspar König! The 68-year-old German curator is retiring after a long career-which began at the age of 23, when he put on one of Claes Oldenburg’s first museum solo shows. [frieze d/e]

Who wants to see better challenges on Bravo’s reality show Work of Art? Judging by critic Jerry Saltz’ 300 plus Facebook comments on the subject, I’m guessing most of us.
