MTV’s gonna get hip again! Today, Creative Time and PS1 present the second round of MTV’s Art Breaks revival, a video series from the 80s which once featured artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Richard Prince. Though you wouldn’t know it, the channel also featured artists like Allen Ginsberg, Philip Glass, and the East Village performance icon Matthew Courtney.

Like most press releases for painting shows, the latest from Mitchell-Innes & Nash has something to say about The State of Painting. While we’d assumed that realist painting is willfully ignorant of progress, it tells us, we now realize that painting is “just one of many ways to process an image.” Is it?
