Saul Chernick, The Gaurdian, 2007, Ink on Paper, 36 x 24 inches

In case anyone thought we’d be above issuing statements like “I told you so” after an unrepresented artist we’ve profiled earns a solo show at a blue chippy gallery think again.  Not only are we not above issuing such a statement, we’ve made a entire new category for just such an occasion!

Let me reintroduce Saul Chernick, one of last year’s featured emerging artists, and the first of those profiled to earn a place in this new coveted category.  Don’t miss his upcoming show this Saturday in the project space of Max Protetch.  Required reading: The Drawings of Saul Chernick.

Robert Rauschenberg, Titan of American Art, Is Dead at 82 - New York Times

“PGh0bWw+PG…” previously in the place of this link; technical error, or homage to Rauschenberg? You decide. From the obit. “Anything you do will be an abuse of somebody else’s aesthetics.” says Rauschenberg, “I think you’re born an artist or not. I couldn’t have learned it. And I hope I never do because knowing more only encourages your limitations.”
