Last week on a trip to Joshua Tree, California, we pulled off at the roadside attraction Cabazon Dinosaurs, the “World’s Biggest Dinosaurs.” Mainly known for its role in Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, inside, it’s a small safari filled with information about dinosaurs, based on the teachings of the Bible.

According to Wiki, Claude Bell hand built the largest dinos in the 1960s, in order to attract visitors to his nearby Wheel Inn cafe. Following Bell’s death, the dinosaurs were bought in the mid-90s by the Cabazon Family Partnership and MKA Cabazon Partnership, who expanded the site and turned it into a Creationist Museum.

Winding your way through the park, posters debunk evolutionary theories about the death of dinosaurs. According to the literature, proof lies in the discovery of Peruvian Ica Stones: a series of stones with carvings of men coexisting with, and even performing surgery on, dinosaurs.

Further evidence lies in the recent discovery of dinosaur tissue, which, a banner tells us, was found in a dinosaur fossil in Italy. “Can soft tissue, ligaments, and bone remain fresh after millions of years? The answer is undoubtedly no.”

In the gift shop, more evidence of prehistoric humans underlines some of the teachings from the overall tour. According to one poster, “veteran missionary Eugene Thomas (retired) had two pygmies in his church in Congo, Africa that claimed to have killed a Mokele-Mbembe in 1959.” Is the Mokele-Mbembe an African Sauropod, the poster wonders? Other sightings have occurred in Japan and Scotland (the Loch Ness Monster).

Information regarding the Loch Ness monster sightings and its habitat. According to the sign, there were 52 separate sightings of the Loch Ness Monster in 1933 alone. Another caption notes that, in 1987, “Operation Deepscan…showed that the lake topography has many ridges, deep trenches, and possible underwater caves where a creature could still evade detection.” By the logic of Creationism, both humans and dinosaurs are only 6,000 years old.
