Color Wheel is a series in which we identify a trending color in art, and post a daily image that illustrates its popularity. This week’s color is coral.
Coral’s a good color for artists to have at the ready. It easily gets across a feeling of grossness (ew, pink like intestines), and prettiness (ah, pink like peonies). Molly Lowe’s got both the pretty and gross down pat in this untitled sculpture we saw this weekend at 247365 Manhattan. Made to look like someone’s armored insides, this hanging sculpture’s been cut from bottles of Tide detergent. And it’s coral, making it perfectly qualified for profile in this week’s Color Wheel.
