Color Wheel is a series in which we identify a trending color in art and post a daily image that illustrates its popularity. This week the we’re profiling the ahhhmazing works that you can 1) See on our Paddle8 auction page and 2) See in person at the Art F City Roast. We’re so proud of our art! But what is the color? Why, the color of Paddle8, of course.
Out of all the works at the auction, this is the one I’d want to own. Hands down.
Sure, it’s more than above-average in its prettiness and playfulness. That’s good enough for some, but I’m into the mystery of the sitter. “All that is profound wears a mask” goes the cliché, and that’s true here. I don’t know what exactly is up with this little guy, but I want to know more. I’m convinced that I could make a great story out of the work. I could put it over my imaginary mantlepiece and tell my imaginary visitors that it’s a portrait of any number of historical figures, or even a long-lost uncle. It could be about so many people.
Anyway, I like this work. If you want to find out more about this little portrait, here’s where you go.
