Color Wheel is a series in which we identify a trending color in art, and post a daily image that illustrates its popularity. This week’s color is yellow.

As you know, the art world is gearing up for this weekend’s Super Bowl, where we’ll finally get to see that long-awaited showdown between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.

And for museum nerds like Tyler Green, this means instigating museum bets. This year, things are a little different; Seattle and Denver instituted their Super Bowl bets without prompting! The Seattle Art Museum has wagered its Nuxalk Forehead Mask of Raven (ca. 1880, above), which resembles the Seahawks logo. The Denver Art Museum has put up its just-acquired Frederic Remington, The Broncho Buster (1895, below). We don’t know anything about football, but we do know this; Forehead Mask of Raven is yellow. Welcome to color wheel.
