Color Wheel is a new series in which we identify a trending color in art for the week and post a daily image that illustrates its popularity. This week’s color is Pepto Bismol (pink). Readers are invited to send us images they have on hand so long as they match the profiled colors and we’ll post the best ones we receive.
Cary Leibowitz goes by the moniker Candy Ass, so it should come as no surprise that pink shows up in his work. For his current solo exhibition at Invisible-Exports, he’s covered all the walls in the same, sickly pink as his canvases. The experience is slightly sickening—a result of the perfectly even fluorescent lighting hanging overhead—and therefore a show best seen in-person. Oddly enough, the show’s effect is similar to what Pepto-Bismol does anyway; it tastes gross, but after the initial swallow, it’s all uphill.
