Last week AFC brought you Five Jobs: Gallery Edition. This week we go institutional with full and part-time positions in NYC museums. From retail to education to curation, museums offer a myriad of different opportunities and they usually come with health benefits. Good. Take your pick.

  • Assistant Curator of Asian Art at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation (New York, NY)

    How to Apply

    An interest in contemporary Asian art, a masters degree in modern art history and a graduate-level fluency in written and spoken Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean, are all required for this position at the Guggenheim. If you possess all of these skills, and feel you can handle the mountain of responsibilities in this listing, you can have a hand in researching and implementing Asian art exhibitions and scholarly publications. Sounds good, right?

  • Part Time: Sales Retail Associate at the New Museum (New York, NY)

    How to Apply

    Haven’t earned your Master’s degree yet? The New Museum store needs a part-time retail associate. Retail experience in a book or museum store: preferred. Knowledge of contemporary art: priceless. And required. Better work on those biceps though, because “occasionally candidates must be able to lift 30 pound boxes.

  • Graphic Designer, Museum of Sex (New York, NY)

    How to Apply

    The Museum of Sex is seeking a graphic designer with an eye for sexy. Along with your cover letter and portfolio, college grads or current students working on a B.A. in fine arts or graphic design should submit a mood board of images that reflects “your personal design sensibility.”

  • Museum Educator at the Museum of the Moving Image (New York, NY)

    How to Apply

    If you like public speaking, kids, and moving images, then this temporary, part-time position as a museum educator could be for you. 8-20 hours per week, deliver gallery talks and other educational programming to museum-goers of all ages. Hurry — applications are due August 19th.

  • Collections Management Assistant/ESDA at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, NY)

    How to Apply

    Help the Met keep their vast collection information records in ship shape as the Collections Management Assistant. Familiarity with TMS or other collections management software is preferred, as well as a knowledge of European sculpture and decorative arts but data entry and meticulous proofreading should be your forte.
