Jonas Lund’s New Media STUFF

by Jonas Lund on June 27, 2013 STUFF

[Editor’s note:  Are you having trouble understanding artists through their art? Understand them through their STUFF instead. In this edition of STUFF we bring you the youngest artist we’ve featured thus far, Jonas Lund. (He’s under 30.) Unsurprisingly this New Media artist’s STUFF is heavy on technology.]

1

MacBook Air

There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my computer is nothing and without my computer, I’m nothing.

2

iPhone

iPhone: Mailbox, Tweetbot, Instagram, Facebook, Wine, Snapchat, Feedly, Instapaper, Camera, Google Maps, Soundcloud, Spotify, Agenda, Instacast, Skype, Yelp, Clock.

3

Kindle Touch

The Kindle was so great for the first couple of months when I was using it to read a lot. Now it’s mostly collecting dust in a drawer, but still, the notion of its existence makes me believe that one day I’ll start reading again.

4

Foxconn Nettop

If you, for example, lost your domain name and all of a sudden needed to move 15GB of emails from one’s Google App account to a newly created Gmail account, an extra computer is very useful as you don’t have to run the imapsync command line tool on your main computer. This one is also great for hosting non-critical websites.

5

Sennheiser i300

If you travel a lot and don’t like to listen to the constant broadcast of keeping your luggage under control, these are great as they block out all sounds but your music.

6

Razer Deathadder

Precision work requires precision tools and with 3600 DPI, a pulsing neon blue light, braided cord and a ridiculous logo, this one fits the bill.

7

My Domain Names

If you ever lost a domain name, you really come to appreciate the ones you still have in your possession.

8

Sublime Text

Sublime Text is amazingly fast and cool – the ultimate text editor.

9

Spotify Subscription

Music without ever having to download another mp3, #joy.

10

Tweetbot

Ok, it’s expensive for a Twitter client, but it’s awesome and syncs my position in the feed with my iPhone. Follow me @jonas_lund
