Please Warm My Wiener: The Art Fag City Wienerfest and Fundraiser Moves to December 16th

Hey Guys, Change of Plans:

The original justification for the Wienerfest was simple: you haven’t heard enough dick jokes this year.

Even today, this remains true.

However, the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy means that many people in the art world are now struggling with far more serious problems. Chelsea flooded. DUMBO was swamped. Many galleries, nonprofits, and residencies do not know when—or even if—they will be able to return to business. It wouldn’t be right to party without helping out.

That means two changes:

The Wienerfest and Fundraiser has moved to Sunday December 16th at Postmasters, 3 pm to 7 pm; and

All full-price tickets will now include a $45 donation to Smack Mellon, a particularly hard-hit nonprofit exhibition and studio space in DUMBO.

Smack Mellon is located directly across from Brooklyn Bridge Park, in one of the lowest-lying areas of DUMBO. They’re estimating the damage from Hurricane Sandy at $400,000. No amount of wieners will fix that on its own, but Smack Mellon sorely needs whatever help we can give them.

Your generosity is essential to getting the art world back on its feet, one space at a time. Come enjoy yourself, and do it for a good cause. We’ll keep the wieners warm for you. —Art Fag City
