Slideshow: The New Museum’s “Ungovernables”

It’s here! “The Ungovernables”, curator Eungie Joo’s New Museum Triennial show, opened yesterday, and we’ve got the slideshow to prove it. The show focuses on artists, mostly from the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia, who are expressing a “strategy of self-determination” as they come of (artistic) age; it’s disjointed and weak in places, but also uncovers a few real gems. The Triennial runs through April 22nd.

    I went out in search of an article that would tell me if this was the follow up to Younger Than Jesus (couldn’t remember whether that was New Museum or PS1) and found this ad on the New York Times’ site: http://i43.tinypic.com/3dcwo.jpg Girl I just die, and my birthday’s coming up even.

    I had to write about this amazing show, too. The Ungovernables was AMAZING – it had such a wide range of points of view that each artists brought to the table. The favorite from our visit was Adrián Villar Roja’s sculpture.
