Congratulations to Hyperallergic for landing The Art and Reality prize in Russia! Finalists included ourselves, Openspace.ru (Russia), Rebel:Art (Germany), and Redbox Review (China).
According to a statement made on Sunday morning by juror Julia Kaganskiy, “writing being equal”, Hyperallergic edged out their competition by their cross-platform use of social media tools. Hyperallergic’s use of tumblr, facebook and twitter has proven impressive this past year, so this is an award well-won.
As many of you know, Art Fag City won the online vote in this weekend’s contest. I’d like to personally thank all of our readers for participating in that portion of the contest. Your clicks are a vote for independent blogging and rigorous online criticism.
Update: An earlier version of this post noted that Kaganskiy said the prize was not determined by quality of writing. She issued the correction over twitter.
