Notes on MonoDramas At The New York City Opera

"Neither", Music by Morton Feldman. Text by Samuel Beckett. Performed by Cyndia Sieden

Cyndia Sieden had the best stage presence of the three, but I wasn’t as impressed with her singing. Either she was mic’d poorly or her voice wasn’t as strong as Shay Thomson or Komsi. This observation should be taken with a grain of salt though, as I have watched very few operas.

I think this series is more or less failed. Personally, I love Feldman and his opera set was pretty nice so it was good. But the other two was disappointed ,literally. Specially, though I do love John zorn, his opera was not good!!! at all.

just so you all know–opera singers are never mic’d. that is their voice, and their voice only.
