Breaking trend news from the Moving Image fair: random people performing in masks are present. They, too, have suffered the plague of art fairs.
Tracking trends from our first Armory fair post and Bingo card, a few notes on repeated and unrepeated themes.
THE INDEPENDENT FAIR
- Stuff on the floor! There wasn’t so much of this at the Armory, save for carpets, which did well at both fairs.
- Shiny objects. I really hate this trend, but it’s everywhere. The Independent at least showcases less sparkling stainless steel. That’s a real edge over The Armory.
- Move over yellow. Pink is the popular color at the Independent, and we expect to see this trend continued elsewhere. We’ll be discussing this trend in greater depth shortly.
- Jeweled crowns and vases aren’t a trend…yet. We spotted one at The Armory and another here. Scope will help us pick up this trend, I’m sure. Either that or tits.
MOVING IMAGE FAIR
- Not surprisingly, neon art isn’t faring very well over at Moving Image. LED lights however, are doing VERY well.
- Faces. Here’s a surprise: there are a lot of them in video art.
- Aging. People get old.
- Costume. Sometimes people dress up in videos.
