- Only on MAN: Smithsonian Secretary pulled Wojnarowicz video | Tyler Green: Modern Art Notes | ARTINFO.com – Apparently, the decision to remove the David Wojnarowicz video A Fire in My Belly from the National Portrait Gallery’s “Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture” was made by Smithsonian Secretary G. Wayne Clough. There's a whole lot of us down in Miami right now, but this is a scandal that will have legs despite distractions. Wojnarowicz is one of the best artists of his generation. To pull his work because there are backward thinking Republicans making threats gives the appearance that they have any authority or expertise in these matters. They do not.
