Rob Pruitt Awards Announced: Paddy Johnson Lands Critic of The Year Nomination

Glenn O'Brian and Rob Pruitt

Looks like the Guggenheim will be granting me the press pass they denied me last year to the Rob Pruitt Art Awards. I’m a nominee in the “blogger or critic of the year” category.

I’m totally flattered of course, though I have to wonder how I landed that list and the New York Times Roberta Smith did not. Not enough Work of Art coverage in the Times perhaps?

Anyway, as a critic I have opinions about the categories and nominees, but I’ll be keeping my commentary to a minimum this year for obvious reasons. I now have to focus on more pressing problems, like finding an appropriate dress for an event I’d never be able to afford otherwise. Initially I was hoping an AFC call out to Zac Posen might entice him to hook me up, but as c-monster’s Carolina Miranda reminded me over email yesterday, Nick Cave has some very fetching soundsuits. As long as I don’t end up wearing Kembra Pfahler’s body paint I guess I’ll be okay.

Paddy, I would pay money to watch you roll up to the Gugg in a Soundsuit!

Speaking of outfits: Glenn, Rob…I don’t know about those tuxes…

as someone who has performed in one of Cave’s sound suits…work out for a bit before poppin one on. The one i wore was about 80 lbs! It would be quite fetching though. lol

I think I understand the nomination. They nominated you so you to avoid your blograth. Brilliant! Oh and please wear the soundsuit with the abacus.

Congratulations! If that is, in fact, the right word.

Paddy, I forgot to congratulate you. Congrats! Would be cool if their was internet voting for this thing. You deserve best blogger of the year. Hope you win it.

Perhaps a call out to artists to design a dress for you would be in order. An artwork instead of some kind of celebrity skin might be more fitting for a Rob Pruitt event?

Very interesting… It’s always gratifying to be acknowledged, in any case. Focus on the outfit ~ Be Fresh ~ Congratulations!
