Maker Faire

Okay nerds, time to swarm the New York Hall of Science. Tickets cost 25 bucks, but you get to hear Chris Anderson talk! (That’s a joke by the way — I’m not going out of my way to see him talk). There is however 17 acres of displays, and I’ll be making my way through all of it.

This is a little outside the regular chelsea fair I tend to go for, but I figure why not go? Stephan Wolfram will talk about Do-It-Yourself Computation, a skill I’m not likely to garner, but yearn for regardless. There’s something called The Most Useless Machine at the fair — apparently it’s for kids, but I’m checking it out anyway and The Battle of the Science bands sounds well, awful. Giddy-up!

Jealous. I went to the west coast Maker Fair a few years ago and had way more that $25 worth of fun.

This nerd gives huge thumbs up on the faire. Useless apples to oranges comparison but enjoyed more than any of the last few art fairs I’ve been to. Plenty to gaze, ponder, like, dislike. This is fertile ground.
