It’s not exactly shocking to see curator favorite Sara Vanderbeek land a show at the Whitney this fall. Vanderbeek’s modernist-inspired, semi-abstract photographs of sculptures made and subsequently destroyed by the artist are vaguely mysterious. This show should prove interesting as it marks a departure from her earlier work: This time she moves her practice outdoors using only natural light to document her sculptures.
