Lush Life
Date: Wednesday, June 16th 2010Friday, August 13th 2010
Venue: Various LES Galleries

Gallery-goers will be able to see all nine chapters of Lush Life — a mammoth, multi-gallery group show curated by Franklin Evans and Omar Lopez-Chahoud as of July 15th. Based on Richard Price’s eponymous, murder mystery novel set on the streets of the post-9/11 Lower East Side, provides an account of the area’s massive and ongoing gentrification. Individual chapters from the book inspire each exhibition, some more obviously than others. The show includes a dozen more artists than this year’s Whitney Biennial, so the curator’s Herculean efforts are worth checking out.
