Best Link Ever! Party in the Matrix!

by David Harper on June 25, 2010 Best Link Ever!

I've got Keanu Reeves on the brain today (probably from trying to figure out the origins of the “Sad Keanu” meme currently circulating the internets) which means I've also got Matrix on the brain and naturally, MATRIX CELEBRATIONS! Summer is a great season for throwing parties , but what could be better than last week's pre-teen pizza disco party? I'll tell you what: a Matrix party web page. On this website readers are given instructions along with a visual essay on how to put together their own event. Outdated? Never! Hilarious? Always! Look how much fun everyone seems to be having! So, carefully following these instructions, get out your blue and red jelly beans and your “Steak” (which is steak, of course), release your inner Neo and please invite me if you do.

An aside: Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation was required reading for the cast of this 1999 film. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall listening to Ted Logan and Cowboy Curtiss discuss whether or not contemporary existence is merely a simulation of reality. Not surprisingly, Baudrillard thought the film makers got it totally wrong.
