Marina Abramovic talking about her art for Howard Silver’s documentary

It’s about to become Marina Abramovic day here at AFC. Above is Howard Silver’s web documentary on the artist’s The Artist is Present retrospective at MoMA for Fly16x9. The video formatting has a few issues I haven’t been able to figure out: No status bar appears on the video so you can’t rewind the piece without rewatching everything, no total time is listed and there’s an auto start function that can’t be turned off when a blogger embeds the video. Needless to say, I’ve opted for the still picture above and a link to the website because at least there you can turn the video on and off. Also, I watched the whole piece and can tell readers it clocks in at around 30 minutes.

Past these issues, the video is worth a watch as it’s primarily a bunch of footage of Marina Abramovic talking about her art. This tends to be illuminating no matter how successful the work is, and Abramovic proves no exception.
