The above image comes courtesy of Ramiken Crucible’s Art Handling Olympics, a gallery-hosted event with no details so far other than “Coming spring 2010.” If the promo shot is any indication of what’s in store, we’re not sure we’re greatly anticipating the event.

The new Lower East Side gallery touts itself as a venue dedicated to showcasing “underground art and music.” They discuss dropping real estate prices on their blog and cite Reena Spaulings as a model art space in the neighborhood. The gallery’s programming, however, takes a different track; their debut show with Gavin Kenyon features an array of anthropomorphized axes. It’s all about boldly staking out new ground over there.
