Maintained by artist and VVork blogger Oliver Laric, this week’s pick goes to Still Available, a project using the currency of the internet — available urls — and the medium of twitter to humorously respond to the day’s most popular news. romanpolanski.ch, undoubtedly our favorite tweet to date, subtly points to director Roman Polanski’s arrest, by choosing the .ch TLD Extension for Switzerland. In contrast to an array of art work either privileging anonymity of the subject (Philip-Lorca diCorcia’s street portraits, Chuck Close early portraits) or a subject’s fame (Elizabeth Peyton, turbo-sculpture), Still Available seeks a combination unique to the internet: well-known, under recognized, and without interest in longevity.
