  Granted there is a lot of similarity between John LeKay's work and Hirst's but isn't the replication of these ideas just one more indication that the core concept isn't that sophisticated to begin with? I don't see an issue with the so called plagiarism of Precious' butterfly work at all as the treatment of the butterflies and the patterning is different.
