Recalling American sculptors of the 60’s and 70’s, Sarah E. Wood’s shadows look like nothing I’ve ever seen. Previously, they took on the form of diamonds, pools of vinyl fabric, and arranged string. This month at Kate Werble Gallery, they don’t seem like shadows whatsoever. Most likely they are not. A rubber wheel and a mess of black woven material each hang from paired wooden disks. The forms strangely relate, though beyond a few basic color and sympathetic patterns it’s hard to identify precisely why.  Undoubtedly a play on words, her exhibition Wait, speaks both to the weight of the form and the soft feeling of anticipation the hanging object evokes.
