At least one citizen of South Coast Massachusetts wants to make sure the above image hits the net. “I am really, really, really moved by this,” Angela Sampaio told Standard-Times correspondent Steve Urban, before seeking upload reassurance. Her wish was granted, though I can’t help but feel the painting might lose too much detail in reproduction– its head reminds me of Robocop. That being said, I’m told the web is short on Jesus this month, so this should help.
SouthCoastToday reports 35 visitors viewed the piece in one hour and provides this choice quote by artist Mark Carvalho in the follow-up story:
Carvalho painted the image on paper and glued it to the wall with a biodegradable wheat paste, so the painting will gradually fade away. The transience of the work is a keystone of the medium, which he calls “street art.”
I’m fairly certain he didn’t coin the term.

“Upload reassurance”–that’s what Christianity is all about, isn’t it?
