Alice Aycock, Art Fag City, New York

Quick question: Can anyone locate the above Alice Aycock sculpture on the map below? Does it still exist?

isn’t that right near the 59th st. bridge? Right around, or part of, the Roosevelt Is. Tram? (or is that another?)

I see it everyday from where I work. It used to be a dog run.

I actually think that it became a dog-run after the sculpture was installed.

Just off the FDR on 60th-ish.

I was driving a friend from London around town a few years back and they asked me if that was a roller-coaster.

Every time I’ve passed it since then, I keep imagining six flags.

I cant believe I didn’t know this existed. Thank you so much for the introduction! I just googled it to discover that ‘it was inspired by the weightlessness of Fred Astaire’s dancing, intended to stand out in a highly competitive visual environment, and engage motorists and pedestrians alike. When the sculpture was installed, Aycock described the project as an opportunity to galvanize this extremely dynamic situation, calling attention in a dramatic way to the visual forms of movement inherent in this very active place.’

Ironically, it’s not standing out in the map…but I hope to find it in person this week!
