Thanks for the honest and funny review. Haven't blogs saved our world? Indeed they have...
The fire dept almost made us take down the Xmas tree. We had a whole fight about that. Totally nuts...

You know, I felt the same way about the VOLTA NY location when I first saw it but what I DO like about it, for me, balances it out in our favor.

(1) Daylight. Seeing the day go by and not feeling like you're stuck in a basement, on an airplane (same air, same stunned people walking up and down the aisles all day, bad food... because any of those are hard to escape in the fair context) or a convention center. For me, it makes a big difference.

(2) NEW YORK CITY, BABY! At most fairs, there's no sense of where the hell you are. I love to see the skyline and feel located, site specific. I love the totally uptown/midtown NYC doorman and marble not to emntion the Empire State. It sets us apart and, honestly, as cool and cutting edge as they might try to be, warehouses lose their charm... which brings me to:

(3) Clean toilets! hey, that matters when you're there every day for a week. Spare me the port-a-potty, puh-lease!

(4) Subway. 5 lines direct. Try that to the Armory. What I save in cabs alone saves the exhibitors a grand on their booth. Ha ha.

That's my defence but, still, I get your point.

Thanks most of all for coming and writing about it!
All my best
Amanda (Director VOLTA NY and Basel)
PS: Forgot to add good post!
