Dexter Sinister at the Kitchen

It’s funny how normally grating names cease to be so once you decide you like the outfit.  This can be said of Dexter Sinister, a smart collective The Kitchen describes as a pamphleteering collaborative.  Not to be missed tonight, Dexter Sinister will present a series of performances and readings at the Kitchen.  From the press release:

Entitled True Mirror Microfiche, the program takes the form of a projected microfiche lecture and is a continuation of Dexter Sinister's recent project for the 2008 Whitney Biennial, True Mirror. True Mirror Microfiche is also presented in conjunction with Dexter Sinister's new publication, DOT-DOT-DOT #16 W.A.S.T.E. of Ink (After Thomas Pynchon).

Although the press release doesn’t mention it, The Whitney website quotes Dexter Sinister’s True Mirror double motto which reads, “Quality is merely the distribution aspect of Quantity” (or vice versa).  Given the crap that comes to me daily from major news sources, I’m quite certain that’s not the case, but that’s not the point.  The fact that both version of that phrase more or less mean the same thing bleakly suggests an  inescapable subscription to the status quo.  The event starts at 7 at the Kitchen and is free to the public.
