Breaking! PBS Poll Energizes Mass Emailers!

Will the five hundred million people sending me and all their friends a link to the PBS poll, Do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States? please stop.  Sarah Palin shouldn’t serve as VP, but that’s not what this question asks.   Technically she meets the minimum requirements, and that’s one reason this poll is so tight.

    I actually work at Thirteen, the presenting station for NOW. The Web producer for now didn’t have polling script that protected against multiple votes very well. Part of why the poll is so tight also is because it’s pretty easy to vote as much as you want. Before this, which was TOTALLY unanticipated in popularity, the NOW polls were just anecdotal and never had an real bearing that required them to be statistically sound in the way they collect data. The popularity of this has totally made it a new necessity.
