Scope Hamptons is struggling to attract exhibitors, or so say the murmurs I’ve heard from several dealers over the last couple of days who have been fielding participation solicitations from Executive Director Alexis Hubshman. As far as I know the fair’s still on; the website lists none of the participating galleries yet but we called a few of last year’s exhibitors, and some are reporting their return this year (though many we talked with had opted out). I also called the fair’s offices for comment but no one picked up the phone and there was no message machine. Notably, at least one other dealer I spoke to this morning similarly complained about their inability to reach the office.
