This brings to to mind Steve Reinke's "eroticized obituary": <a HREF="http://www.xtra.ca/public/viewstory.aspx?AFF_TYPE=3&STORY_ID=2691&PUB_TEMPLATE_ID=2" rel="nofollow">AMERICAN MILITARY CASUALTIES </A>.

<i>"Picture it: More than 2,000 wallet-sized colour photos of members of the United States military, overwhelmingly male, downloaded and arranged carefully in rows. You cast an eye on every image, taking them all in, until your gaze reaches the end of the collection and its raw caption: "The American military casualties of the Second Gulf War for whom photographs were available as of Oct 7, 2006 arranged by attractiveness." A punch line... but for a joke that's not funny. Welcome to Steve Reinke's latest and most ruthless anti-monument to US culture."</i>

So damn Canadian, can't just go have fun fucking, have to get all dark on everyone.

Could u find work more dull? I wish u could use a rating system to let readers know. As usual the rhetoric is queer theory university certified and the visuals deletable.

I didn't know about Steve Reinke - that piece sounds pretty good. It reminds of this study a friend told me about, in which they asked participants to identify the "professional" in a side by side comparison of two pictures. Be it an accountant, a lawyer, whatever, something like 95% of the time the most attractive person was chosen. In any event, after that I really paid more attention to what I wore to interviews.

I also forgot to add since I'm not interested in fucking men, I find the queering biased in favor of homosexual fantasy. Haven't we gotten past Foucault's bodies and pleasures yet? This gives FUCKING a bad name.

You're the first person to have mentioned Foucault around here arf arf. This show is about having a bit of fun, it isn't a deep investment in theory.

I don't see what the problem is with biasing a show towards homosexual fantasy. Your comments sound homophobic to me, and will not be approved if you continue to troll the blog in this manner. Also, I will remind you that the show isn't biased towards homosexual fantasy but bisexual fantasy, since the women Blake asked to select a man they would fuck are lesbians and straight men.

I tend to agree w/ the canine. "ask participants to chose(sic) the men they’d fuck" This does privilege male gaze/desire, albeit homoerotic, as opposed to premising the DesireFest as the women or persons they'd fuck. I think the issue breaks on whether or not we consider asking a lesbian (a dying term I hate to tell u) to desire a hetero male orientation is an insult or a discounting. Maybe if we went to a dyke bar and asked an old fashioned butch top or femme down we might get our answer. On the other hand identity is slippery as do we call the hetero male who has a once in a life time sexual encounter w/ a male Gay? But then this daycare is run by an Art Fag, so be it.
