Mr. Snow t-shirts cost $61.90 presumably because they are a limited edition of 500. Notably, Jen Bekman sells prints for a third of the price and in smaller edition sizes. Via AnimalIn this week’s New Yorker John Lahr discusses The Pitmen Painters, a theatre production by Lee Hall and Edward Albee on miners and artistic vision. Inspired by John Ruskin’s quote, “Rough work, honorable or not, takes the life out of us,” a point demonstrated by the miner’s admission that they’ve not been to a gallery as a result of their occupation, the play proposes the best way for the pitmen to learn about art is to make it. Also discussed is Edward Albee’s Occupant a play about sculptor Louise NevelsonI’ve never been able to decide if the summer exhibition schedule in New York meant the opportunity to see a lot more crap than usual or less. At the very least there’s a lot less in the way of projects, but then people typically take bigger risks, because there’s a lot less money riding on it.
