New Podcast Interviews Art Critic Charlie Finch This Week

Eva Lake, The Art World

It looks like my favorite art podcasters Bad At Sports have competition out in Portland Oregan. Well sort of. Unlike Bad At Sports which mixes reviews and features with interviews, The ArtWorld, an Internet radio show run by Eva Lake, exclusively runs interviews with international art glitterati. Of course, don’t expect to hear Cindy Sherman talk – nobody über famous has signed up to be interviewed yet, but this week you can tune in to, of all people, misogynist art critic Charlie Finch. According to Eva Lake’s published schedule, the following week’s programming includes a discussion with artist Nancy Baker, a contributing artist to the blog Anonymous Female Artist. Baker should be able to provide some insight into the blogosphere outrage that occured last year in response to Finch’s review titled The Seduction of Natalie Frank, in which he uses sexual metaphor after sexual metaphor to describe the young artist’s work, though it is the anonymous editor, and founder of the blog Edna V. Harris, (and Todd Gibson) who spearheaded the Internet response last year. Maybe Eva Lake can schedule an interview with Mia Fineman of the New York Observer, so we can finally get to the bottom of the print media’s cotton gloved handling of last year’s controversy.
