ArtKrush published a feature today on the art blogosphere following up their first article in December of 2005. Spreading the linking love around there are no repeat mentions from 2005 in the main article, though they do provide a comprehensive list of bloggers at the end of the piece. Since 23 bloggers are mentioned in the feature, I won’t bother going through all of them, but highlights include The Guardian’s art and architecture blog signandsight.com, Kriston Capps’ Grammar.police, conceptual art blog VVork, and if you’ll excuse some necessary self promotion, yours truly. Exclusive features go to We Make Money Not Art who receives a write up in the media category of the magazine, The Design Observer as the one to watch, and finally, Artkrush editor Paul Laster conducts their interview segment with Alec Soth.

Notably, to date ArtKrush is the only art news service to have run more than one feature on Internet publishing. Obviously I have a bias, but I find it surprising that with this sole exception professionals continue to ignore a medium of expression that yields increasing influence in the field of journalism and art criticism.

Full disclosure: I have contributed to Artkrush.

Why did they mention Capps’ site and not many many others? GP is spottily posted to and frequently just points the Capps’ articles. Something like artblog or artblog.net would have made more sense to hightlight.

You’re talking to the wrong person about Capps. I love his site! I think he’s hilarious and really smart. And I like the article’s he written elsewhere – though I agree that the best blogs are those with content that remains primarily on site. Personally, ModernKicks is my favorite non highlighted blogger in both issues. Updating several times daily doesn’t necessarily mean I’m going to prioritize a blog.
