Culturegrrl reports today that the New Museum has a webcam recording the construction of their new building which updates to their site every 10 minutes. Unlike Lee however, I don't find this kind of stuff all that “cool.” Webcams like any other tool are only as interesting as what you do with it, and documenting a construction zone isn't exactly what I would call an innovative use of technology. Just as I have never succumbed to the temptation to placing a webcam in my sidebar so that my readers will have “the opportunity” to watch me type, I don't think the Museum is so inherently important that we all need to watch curtain wall installation.
